Jason Lopes came up the way Teamster leaders are supposed to: on the floor. He worked distribution and stood as a shop steward for Local 25 at Stop & Shop, learning the contract one grievance at a time while earning his business education at UMass Dartmouth. He never stopped being that steward — the titles just got bigger.
As a Business Agent at Local 25, Jason carries a book anchored in public services and health care, negotiating agreements for municipal and service units including three-year contracts with City of Cambridge groups — tables where preparation and persistence decide what a family's next three years look like.
The International noticed. General President O'Brien appointed Jason lead negotiator for the National Red Cross contract on behalf of 25 Teamster locals — work that delivered a national master agreement for Red Cross workers — and named him the Teamsters' Health Care Director, with prior service as Eastern Region Division Representative for the Public Services and Health Care Divisions.
What that means for members here is simple: when Jason sits down at a Local 25 table, he brings the leverage, the playbook, and the relationships of the national union with him. Boston contracts, national muscle.
